A towering chimney. This is Novozymes' site at Fuglebakken in Copenhagen. The old dairy at Fuglebakken was the start of the adventure that has evolved into Novozymes and Novo Nordisk.

Today, the buildings designed by Arne Jacobsen house the plants that make up Novozymes' oldest and first enzyme site. Following major expansions in the 1930s and 1960s, Fuglebakken now produces a range of Novozymes' most specialised enzymes.

Thus, Fuglebakken is characterised by being an old factory that, in terms of equipment and plant, has continuously undergone major change. Now the site only produces enzymes. Since Novo Nordisk and Novozymes became two independent firms, there is no longer any pharmaceutical production at Fuglebakken.

Enzymes for the baking industry and for use in e.g. cola are just two examples of the enzymes that are made at Fuglebakken.

As well as the production plant, there is a range of facilities such as workshops, analysis and research laboratories, canteens, and much more.
