We use vast quantities of water and energy and have a large wastewater treatment plant that cleans the industrial wastewater from both Novo Nordisk's and Novozymes' plants.
The wastewater treatment plant has just been expanded for a considerable amount. It is also in the wastewater treatment plant that the residual products from enzyme production are converted into NovoGro®.
In recent years we have invested large sums in reducing the odours that, under special circumstances, can escape from our plants. The odour emissions are not toxic or harmful in any way - we only use nature's own resources in our production.
Every day our employees carry out so-called "odour rounds". At selected points in Kalundborg we check whether there are odour emissions from our plants. We also work with our nearest neighbours to localise odour emissions.
We promise that we are doing what we can to prevent nuisances for our neighbours. But we cannot promise that we will never cause any odour or noise.
