Novozymes Biopharma AB offers microbial fermentation and purification of biological compounds for the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. The manufacturing capabilities are used for contract manufacturing for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
The plant in Lund, Sweden, is owned by Novozymes Biopharma AB and operated as a multi-purpose plant. The company has provided contract manufacturing services for more than 10 years and has a broad experience base and an excellent track record. The equipment and product change-over procedures are validated according to cGMP. Production is performed in campaigns. The plant is authorized to handle recombinant and native microorganisms as well as moderate-risk pathogens of class 2.
The manufacturing operations are supported by process development and up-scaling based on 30 years of experience in recombinant microbial fermentation and recovery of biological substances. Over the last five years, protein purification has also been added to the competence base.
Currently, Novozymes Biopharma AB has 75 employees engaged in production, technology transfer, process development, quality control and quality assurance.
