What characterizes Novozymes's people and organisation?
It has always impressed me how dedicated, skilled, open and helpful our employees are. Our professional level is high and our people are very competent – they look for new solutions and make sure that things happen. During my time in Novozymes, I’ve served on a number of steering committees, and in my experience, the employees nearly always succeed in completing the projects on time and – in most cases – within the budget. Our staff are also good at involving other functions when necessary.
That’s why it’s easy and fun to be a manager – there are so many skilful persons to ensure that projects and decisions are carried out. Also, I really appreciate the fact that people often challenge our decisions; that way, they help us ensure that the right decisions are reached.
Looking at our organization in general, I think that management at all levels has been good at delegating tasks; the managers trust in the employees to deliver what is asked of them. One reason for this is that in Novozymes, we focus a lot on the individual employee and on his or her needs for new tasks, challenges, training, etc. and we spend a good deal of time – and money – on each employee’s personal and professional development.
Why do you want to work for Novozymes?
I’ve been working with the Novo Group since 1988, first as a Price Waterhouse consultant, later as an employee of Novo Nordisk. When Novozymes was established in 2000, I joined the new company, so I’ve been with Novozymes quite a few years now.
I really appreciate the values and the culture of Novozymes. In addition, I’ve always felt that it was possible to go for the very best and that good ideas are valued. We are a company with great ambitions that likes to set high standards and to take a top position.
And then there are the products and our technology. We are a high technology biotech company and we are leaders within our area. I think it’s really exciting, motivating and inspiring to work in an organization that enjoys respect both in Denmark and abroad. To me, it’s also very important that we look for solutions which are not only financially solid, but also environmentally and socially responsible.
I could go on and on! We have a great company – and its potential is only starting to show.
