Interview with Thomas Nagy

How would you characterize Novozymes' Stakeholder Relations?

Stakeholder Relations is a very important element in engaging our internal and external stakeholders in active dialog so that we get better at understanding their requirements, needs, and expectations.

Dialog is very important in an industry like ours. On the one hand, we need to tell the outside world about the benefits that we, our technology, and our products offer, but at the same time we need to try to understand those people who may be critical of what we do.

This is partly why Novozymes has a long tradition of direct and active dialog with its stakeholders. In the past we were one of the first companies to enter into direct dialog with NGOs concerning the use of recombinant microorganisms.

And our ambition is obviously to get even better: We want to be an important and recognized participant in the global debate because our sustainable bioinnovation offers the world community new solutions and opportunities in relation to big global issues and challenges such as global warming and climate change.

Why do you work for Novozymes?

I can vouch for what we make – the products that we offer our customers and the society in which we live – and the way we do business.

If you look at the benefits of industrial biotechnology, it is something that I can stand by and something that I feel I can be proud of. Our value base is in order, in terms of both the way we act in society and the products that we make.

Another reason why I am really pleased to be working here is that I have some fantastically skilled colleagues. They are motivated and committed in their work, and really good at what they do.

Last but not least, Novozymes is a company that places great value on personal development. Although I have been at Novozymes for many years, I have not held the same position for more than four years. We have extremely good opportunities to learn and to try something new.
