Novozymes wants to be a responsible corporate neighbour in the communities in which we operate. We strive to integrate this objective in the way we work, through all our business processes and our products.
Charitable donations in the form of financial contributions, in-kind assistance or knowledge sharing should be seen as an example of our commitment to be a good corporate neighbour.
Local approach to reflect local priorities and needs
Our operations are spread throughout a variety of communities around the world. To reflect this, Novozymes has chosen not to have a centralised, corporate donations programme. Instead, Novozymes encourages and supports regional and local initiatives.
We believe that by charging local sites and local employees with this task, we are able to assess more accurately where we are able to make a positive difference in the communities in which we operate. We encourage this by enabling local sites to report on their activities.
At the corporate level, Novozymes will occasionally support initiatives which are global, rather than local in scope.
Restrictions
For all donations made by Novozymes, the following restrictions apply:
-
We do not give financial contributions to political parties, or to political campaign efforts
-
We do not make grants to individuals, except through scholarships or sponsoring of research activities (see guidelines for Novozymes' sponsorships)
-
We do not make donations to causes which we perceive to be in conflict with our values
Reporting
Novozymes' contributions are multi-faceted, consisting of knowledge, in-kind donations as well as monetary assistance. In addition, individual departments are free to make donations out of their operating budget, within the confines of the restrictions outlined above.
It is currently not feasible to collect a consolidated figure for charitable contributions which would accurately reflect our contributions. However, site reports create an overview of community activities and donations at our larger production sites (see our site reports).
