Gleaning information given in cover letters and resumes, line management will select a number of candidates for interviews. The number of invitations will vary according to the type of job for offer as well as the number of candidates deemed suitable on the grounds of their application.
Interviews normally take place in the third and forth week after the original time of announcement. In some instances, however, difficulties in scheduling the interviews can cause the recruiting process to exceed 4 weeks. The appropriate line manager, possibly assisted by members of his or her staff, normally conducts the interviews. Candidates for academic positions will also be interviewed by an internal consultant from People & Organisation. Only when the successful candidate has signed the contract will other applicants be notified. However, we sincerely welcome candidates who have submitted their application to telephone us at any time for information on how the recruiting process is coming along and whether they, themselves, are being considered for an interview.
