Novozymes is the biotech-based world leader in industrial enzymes and microorganisms - a demanding position. It is imperative that we constantly develop our business foundation. One way of doing so is to ensure that our employees get the best opportunities for personal and professional development throughout the entire employment period.
In 2001, we launched a new strategy to ensure that in future our biotech competencies may be utilised in more and new ways supplementing the existing enzyme business. The future Novozymes will have a broader business foundation with new focus areas, which we intend to build up through the acquisition of companies within the field of industrial microorganisms and the pharmaceutical industry. We make our living by being innovative and continuously developing and improving our products and scope of business. But our success is entirely dependent on our ability to develop our employees.
In Novozymes, there are two significant drivers for developing the competencies of our employees - on one hand the overall business objectives of our company and on the other hand the wishes and needs of our employees. To meet the keen competition we are up against on international markets we endeavour to balance resources and competencies with the company’s changing requirements.
As a company we share the responsibility that the development of our employees always meets the requirements we are facing. However, we also expect our employees to take responsibility for their own development.
In Novozymes, we generally allocate substantial resources to development and training of our employees. It is not only a question of offering the right training courses. We also endeavour to create interesting and challenging jobs, which in itself develop our employees. Today many employees get individual objectives and the necessary liberty of action to deliver results within a defined framework. During annual performance evaluations each employee is currently assessed on the ability to reach defined objectives. Concurrently, we set up development plans for individual employees and teams to ensure that the competencies of both managers and employees match the requirements at all times.
We experience that most employees go for a company focusing on training and development throughout the employment period. Besides interesting tasks, it is very much the development opportunities offered - both professional, personal and career-wise - that make people choose and remain with a company.
