In the 1960s, Novo established a business site in Bagsvaerd to make room for Research and light Production activities.
Sales and Marketing, Economy and other staff functions have further been established in Bagsvaerd, and today the headquarters of Novozymes is located in Bagsvaerd.
Almost all the Danish Research and Development functions of Novozymes are located in Bagsvaerd.
Approximately 525 persons are employed within Research and Development, approximately 275 persons are employed within Sales, Marketing and Staffs, and approximately 325 persons within Production in Bagsvaerd.

Novozymes has one of the largest biotech R&D groups in the world focusing on proteins.
The group in Bagsvaerd is the largest, but we have also R&D groups in the US (California and North Carolina, as well as in Japan and China so the possibilities for getting an international network are excellent.
We can boast of experts in all fields relevant for enzymes comprising classical microbiology, gene technology, robot screening, enzyme kinetics, protein chemistry, enzyme applications, toxicology and many more. We have brand new and state of the art pilot plants in fermentation, recovery and granulation.

Production in Bagsvaerd
The most important Novozymes factory in Bagsvaerd is our plant for granulation of enzymes. The granulation process binds the enzyme powder into compact particles. This technology is crucial in the application of enzymes for a number of purposes, the most important one being application of enzymes in detergent.
Furthermore, we produce enzymes of an especially high level of purity and in the form of crystals. Approximately 325 employees are occupied within production in Bagsvaerd.
