It is important for us to collaborate
Throughout our history, and increasingly so, our products have been developed through collaborations with our customers, other companies, or universities. In fact, this strategy has ensured that our products not only have a high technology content but are also designed to meet important market needs.
We see no contradiction in being both profitable and transparent. On the contrary, we believe it is im-portant to listen to the issues being raised around us in order for us to embrace new ideas and new opportunities.

Why collaborate with us
There are many reasons why you should consider collaborating with us, irrespective of whether you are a current or potential customer, whether you are working in a completely different field, or whether you are at a university or somewhere else:
-
you can access our extensive R&D resources around the world;
-
you can access our pilot plants that take new technology into large-scale production;
-
throughout our organization we focus on high quality;
-
we have a long track-record of commercially successful collaborations;
-
it is important to us to maintain our rep utation as an open and honest collaboration partner.
We also collaborate outside the enzyme area
At Novozymes we have developed a unique palette of Technologies for understanding and manipulating biological systems.
We apply these technologies in R&D partnerships, including those outside our current businesses. We are actively seeking new partnerships where our technology base can be put to use outside the field of industrial enzymes, particularly in the fields of chemical, agricultural and pharmaceutical products derived from biotechnology.
The technologies that can be made available through partnerships include:
-
gene discovery, cloning, and sequencing
-
expression profiling and DNA arraying
-
low allergenic technologies
-
man-made diversity of genes
-
high-throughput screening of protein functionality
-
gene expression in gene libraries and for production of gene products or metabolites.
Further, the Technologies available page gives you a good idea of the technologies we offer for licensing.
We have extensive collaboration experience
We are currently involved in a full range of R&D partnerships: agreements with a single group of scientists at a university; strategic collaborations with large companies; and collaboration in large global networks involving many partners. The following are just a few examples to give an idea of the large variety of collaborations in which we participate.
| Technology Partnerships: |
MAXYGEN-NOVOZYMES. Strategic Collaboration with the aim of developing Gene Shuffling technology and commercializing products from a broad and powerful intellectual prop-erty platform. The partnership includes cross-licensing of current and future Gene Shuffling tech-nologies. |
| Market-Specific Partnerships: |
ROCHE-NOVOZYMES Strategic Alliance with the aim of pioneering and driv-ing the development of significant new feed enzyme applications which will benefit the health of both li-vestock and the environment. |
| Joint Product Development: |
We have more than 15 active joint development agreements with customers, building on our long, successful tradition for developing new products and processes for major markets in close collabora-tion with those who have a detailed knowledge of the needs. |
| Technology Consortia: |
Biocatalysts offer many features that are of potential value in the field of polymer synthesis. To explore the technical opportunities in this emerging area NO-VOZYMES is a co-sponsor of a National Science Foundation IUCRC center at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, together with Maxygen and several impor-tant polymer-manufacturing companies. |
| Academic Collaborations: |
It is of utmost importance to us to interact closely in collaborative projects with the rest of the scientific community to explore and fuel the potential of new technologies of relevance to NOVOZYMES. Our current, formalized collaborations with academia, about 45 in all, include initiation of 6 new EU-funded projects this year u nder the 5th Framework Pro-gramme. |
