Enriched environmental gene libraries
Title of Technology: Screening
Abstract: A method for screening expression libraries for biological compounds interacting with fluorescent substances. The screening is achieved by the use of Fluorescence Polarization (FP) measurement. The expression systems can be in vitro or in vivo systems including e.g. microbial hosts.
Detailed Description: This method provides sensitive, accurate, yet very robust high throughput screening for virtually any biological compound for which a fluorescent substrate / target can be designed. Unprecedented freedom in choice of fluorescence sub-stance is provided by applying the FP technique. Thus, by designing the substance for the specific interaction you are interested in, the full versatility of this method can be exploited. This implies that apart from its unique sensitiv-ity and robustness, the current method also, for many activities, minimizes the ?false positives? achieved by al-ternative methods that are limited in choice of fluores-cent substance.

Enriched environmental gene libraries
Abstract: A method for generating an enriched
gene library from an environmental pool of organisms.Enrichment for
genes encoding polypeptides of interest is achieved by cultivation of the environmental pool under suit-able conditions and subsequent preparation of a gene library.
