Reducing the consumption of water consumption

A common denominator for most of the processes in which enzymes replace chemicals is a reduction in water consumption. Rinsing processes in particular are made far more environmentally friendly.

Enzymes used to replace harsh chemicals in both the leather and textile industries not only remove important sources of pollution but also save water.

If chemicals are used, textiles and leather have to be rinsed many times over to ensure that no chemical residues are left behind, requiring vast quantities of water. By way of contrast, most enzymatic processes require only a single rinse – and sometimes not even that.
