All of Novozymes' products are based on innovation and advanced technology. In 2006 Novozymes spent an amount equivalent to 13% of turnover on research and development, which corresponds to more than 750 employees.
The result is a high number of new products - close to 30% of sales came from products launched during the last five years - and constant improvements in productivity. This focus on research and development also leads to the steady accumulation of new technologies, which is essential for Novozymes to retain its status as the world leader in enzymes and microorganisms and continue its expansion into biopolymers and pharmaceutical proteins.
