Novozymes cares for its customers. We therefore work hard to ensure that the enzyme solutions that we develop in the laboratories also work for our customers. Customer satisfaction is one of the key issues in application work, but how do you reduce a washing machine, a starch factory, a bakery or a textile mill to laboratory scale?
It is exactly this which has been the key to Novozymes’ success. We now have a range of tests which reflect the critical process conditions at our customers’ sites. We have extensive in-house expertise in reducing the full-scale application to a size which is manageable and convenient in the laboratory, secures high throughput and has low sample demand.
All of these tests correlate to the final application, although the correlation generally gets poorer as the test is downscaled. We often therefore need a cascade of tests. Each step upwards in scale has better correlation and greater complexity, more closely resembles the real-life application and increases the likelihood that a given enzyme has good technical performance and can therefore achieve commercial success.
Novozymes will enhance this capability in the future to ensure that our enzymes are world-class in technical performance and meet (or exceed) our customers’ expectations.
