Green NGOs and debate on gene technology
In 2001, Novozymes, Novo Nordisk and Novo launched an educational project called Genius in partnership with the Danish Society for Nature Conservation (DN). The aim of the partnership was to qualify the debate on genetic engineering. We jointly developed tools and activities including a colourful Genius Magazine for pupils at the age of 14-18.
Research institutions and knowledge sharing
Novozymes' Research & Development department was actively engaged, when Denmark's Technical University (DTU) in 2004 opened the first Danish centre for research in biotechnology. The Centre for Microbial Biotechnology (CMB) plays an important role in Danish research and industrial development.
In June 2001 Novozymes' site in Brazil entered into a partnership with Tecpar, a regional institute of technology for the state of Parana in Brazil. The intention was to build a forum for sharing experience and knowledge about better ways of working with biotechnology.
Neighbours and production sites
Novozymes' production sites have regular meetings with neighbours to inform about ongoing activities and to reply to questions. The topics covered typically include noise, odours, what Novozymes actually does to solve these problems and what enzymes are used for in everyday life.
