Reduced material and energy consumption
As a result of their catalytic function, small quantities of enzyme have, in many cases, the same effect as large quantities of chemicals, energy, and water. The immediate benefits of enzyme application are savings from raw material, chemical, and energy and/or quality improvements. This is often the key to efficiency improvements in our customers’ production processes.
Reduced CO2 emissions
Using enzymes saves energy compared to traditional processes. Our rough estimate shows that our customers' net savings average 100 kg of CO2 emissions for each kg of Novozymes enzymes they use. Combined with our production figures in 2007, these estimates reveal that using our products in 2007 alone reduced CO2 emissions by more than 20 million tons.
Lowered environmental impact
In the broader perspective, enzymatic solutions repeatedly help specific industries produce more useful products with fewer and less toxic inputs, thus reducing impacts on the environment.
