Textile industry: When applied to grey goods, scouring removes substances that have adhered to the fibres during production of the yarn or fabric, e.g. dirt, oils and any sizing or lint applied to warp yarns to facilitate weaving. Pectinase scouring: Complete or partial enzymatic removal of the non-cellulosic components found in native cotton (using a pectinase).
