When juice manufacturers around the world use Novozymes’ biosolutions they can squeeze more juice out of their apples, pears, stone fruits, grapes, and berries. When leather companies use Novozymes' biosolutions in their production of everything from gloves to upholstery they can get more leather product of out their hides because our enzymes remove the hair and grease without damaging the hides. Industry after industry is using our biosolutions to become more efficient in their use of raw materials. Most people might be unaware that industrial biotechnology is already applied in the production of a broad range of everyday products. They are, for instance, used to reduce the time needed to bake bread, to increase the yield in wine, cheese and vegetable oil production and to save heat in laundry washing and textile making. In other words, established biotechnology already allows us to do more with less. This is good for business, but also good for the overall consumption of resources in the world.

The reason why Novozymes’ biosolutions are good at making more from less is that enzymes are biodegradable catalysts that are able to make biological reaction happen at low temperatures and without the use of harsh chemicals. Thus also reducing the cost for energy and water. Enzymes are also very specific in what they catalyze. One enzyme catalyzes only one biological reaction, in contrast to harsh chemicals that react with everything around it and can cause unintentional damage to the raw material reducing the quality of the raw material.
