A laundry bar breakthroughAcross the globe consumers use laundry bars to hand-wash clothes and remove tough stains – a laborious task requiring a lot of time, effort, and, often, repeated washing. Although the detergent manufacturer Liby had been considering using enzymes in laundry bars for several years, their lack of stability had been a major challenge in creating a commercial product. Easyzyme overcame this hurdle by offering a stabilized solution that was even more effective as a cleaning agent than traditional laundry formulas. Thanks to its superior performance, Easyzyme required less water to remove stains and less rewashing due to unsatisfactory results, thereby benefiting the environment at the same time as the consumer.
Consumers love enzymes
In China nearly 30% of consumers use laundry bars to either pretreat or post-treat stains that do not come out in the wash cycle. A report produced after the release of the Easyzyme-based product in China indicated a 5% market share for Liby – a substantial margin.
“We launched an enzymatic bar in three cities, and now, after four months of use, the consumer reaction is very positive,” says Zhang Liping, Chief Scientist and Senior Manager at Liby. “They can see that the enzymatic bar offers a higher degree of detergency compared to the conventional bar.”
