Reduced material and energy consumption
As a result of their catalytic function, small quantities of enzyme can often replace large quantities of chemicals, energy, and water. The immediate benefits of enzyme application are savings in raw materials, chemicals, and energy, and/or quality improvements. This is often the key to efficiency improvements in our customers’ production processes.
Reduced CO2 emissions
Using enzymes saves energy compared to traditional processes. Our rough estimate shows that our customers' average net savings is in the order of 130 kg of CO2 emissions for each kg of Novozymes enzymes they use. Combined with our production figures, these estimates reveal that in recent years using our products has led to an annual reduction in CO2 emissions of around 25 million tons.
Reduced environmental impact
