Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
Novozymes was awarded a Silver Class rating by RobecoSAM in The Sustainability Yearbook 2016 with a record score of 90 out of 100. The increase in score from 2014, when we scored 86, can be attributed to the dedicated work to improve our business practices. These improvements were inspired by best practices learned from RobecoSAM and peers in the high-performing Chemicals Industry.
RobecoSAM scores companies on three dimensions: economic, environmental and social. In 2016, we were once again recognized as best in class in the social dimension.
In 2016, CDP recognized Novozymes for our leadership on climate change action. With the inclusion in the global A list, Novozymes became leaders in climate change action for the second time in three years. We retained our position at the top of the Nordic Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for the third year in a row. Our response was especially recognized for overall performance which reflects holistic approach to climate change and for a number of energy efficiency projects that helped us achieve our CO2 reduction target.
Novozymes is included in the MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes with the highest possible rating of AAA. The MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes include companies with high environmental, social and governance ratings relative to their sector peers and cover both developed and emerging markets globally.Novozymes was rated among ESG leaders in the MSCI World ESG Index in the Specialty Chemicals peer group.
FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that Novozymes has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.
Recognized for Sustainability Integration and Reporting
In 2014 Novozymes received a prestigious jubilee award from the Danish Institute of State Authorized Public Accountants (FSR). The award was given to Novozymes for its history of integrated annual reporting and its longstanding efforts to integrate sustainability into its business strategy.
In 2014/2015, Novozymes was again awarded PRIME status by Oekom Research, a rating that recognizes Novozymes as among the leaders in the Chemicals Industry peer group. This rating also qualifies Novozymes for investments which take ecological and social responsibility into account.
Global 100 Most Sustainability Corporations in the World index
In 2015, Novozymes ranked number 43 in an index of the 100 most sustainable corporations in the world (the Global 100) maintained by Corporate Knights. The index quantitatively compares and ranks the world’s largest public companies based on key sustainability-related parameters.
Novozymes is included in the STOXX ESG Leaders Indices, a group of indices that include the leading global companies in terms of environmental, social and governance criteria, based on ESG indicators provided by Sustainalytics.
In 2016, Novozymes was once again included in STOXX ESG Leaders index.
Novozymes is included in the Euronext Vigeo Europe 120 Index. To be included in Vigeo’s indices, companies undergo an assessment by Vigeo and are rated based on their level of commitment towards the sustainable development goals and their response to industry risk factors.
Novozymes has been reconfirmed for inclusion in the Ethibel PIONEER and Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Registers since 20/03/2015. This selection by Forum ETHIBEL indicates that Novozymes can be qualified as a sector leader in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
