Biopolishing in laundries

Laundries biopolish garments by using Novozymes’ state-of-the-art low-temperature cellulase at neutral pH. By using the biopolishing process, laundries can produce cotton knits that last at least 20% longer.

What is biopolishing?

Biopolishing is an environmentally-friendly process that uses enzymes to extend the lifetime of cotton knits and soon, additional fabrics.

In biopolishing, the enzymes remove protruding fibers from the surface of the fabric, leaving a clean surface. This improves dyeability, and it creates better-quality, longer lasting, more sustainable textiles. The biopolish effect is permanent - even after 30 washes. 

Surveys show that consumers want clothes that last longer. This presents an opportunity for brands to differentiate their products toward consumers. It gives mills and laundries the chance to differentiate their products towards brands.

For laundries with spray

For laundries with spray technology washing machines, Novozymes has assessed and certified machine brands and enzymes for safe application.
