January 25, 2021 – HiPhorius™ raises the market standard for phytase technology, delivering consistent improvements in animal performance through efficient phosphorous utilization. It is a complete phytase solution for poultry, swine and aquaculture species and designed to help farmers achieve sustainable and profitable animal protein production.
HiPhorius™ enables producers to expect increased efficiency, improved thermostability and access to digital services, giving producers opportunities to reduce feed costs. The superior phytate-degrading properties of HiPhorius™ enable precision nutrition with the use of digestible calcium for optimum broiler performance. Using end-to-end digital services for intelligent phytase nutrition, HiPhorius™ offers more out of less feed.
For decades, animal protein producers have relied on phytases as an alternative to inorganic phosphate for both economic and sustainability reasons. Rock phosphate is a non-renewable resource that needs to be managed efficiently. As prices of this important source of phosphorus have increased over recent years and pressure for more sustainable animal protein production grows, more attention has been given to phytases to deliver greater efficiency. With its enhanced potency, HiPhorius™ fills the gap, allowing a significant reduction of phosphorous in monogastric diets. The addition of HiPhorius™ directly contributes to a significant decrease of phosphorus emissions from poultry, swine and fish farming. This not only optimizes value for the farmer but also reduces the environmental footprint of animal production. All these aspects are reflected in the HiPhorius™ slogan, “Adding a little, wins a lot”.
Christie Chavis, Vice President Performance Solutions + BIOMIN® at DSM Animal Nutrition and Health, added: “At DSM, we are proud of our Alliance with Novozymes in the feed enzyme space. We are convinced that HiPhorius™ will bring significant benefits to our customers whether they are looking to optimize diets or get more efficiency from their current diets. Depending on farm management, objectives and choice of enzymes, our customers typically see feed cost reduction of 1-4% in broilers, for example. That improvement contributes to farmers’ profitability and improves the sustainability of livestock farming while demonstrating how we fulfill the DSM food system commitments’ aim of double-digit reduction of livestock emissions by 2030”.
Robert Vergo, Global Feed Alliance Director at Novozymes, comments: “The launch of HiPhorius™ continues the Alliance’s momentum of delivering impactful innovation, following the successful launch of our second-generation protease, ProAct 360™, in 2021. Innovation like this is a crucial tool to managing our agricultural practices sustainably. HiPhorius™ fortifies our comprehensive enzyme product range within animal nutrition and health".
Kostas Stamatopoulos, Global Product Manager Phytases at DSM Animal Nutrition and Health, said: “We are thrilled to launch a new solution to market that brings profound change to the value chain, as well as our shared planet. This new generation of phytase marks the beginning of a new era for phosphorous utilization.”
In alignment with DSM’s We Make it Possible strategic initiative, which supports a robust and achievable transformation worldwide in sustainable animal protein production, HiPhorius™ improves the lifetime performance of animals, reducing emissions from livestock and making efficient use of natural resources.
HiPhorius™ is in line with the unveiling of three business lines at DSM Animal Nutrition and Health that will deliver unparalleled solutions to make animal farming more sustainable and brings a bright new face to DSM Animal Nutrition and Health following the successful acquisition of Biomin in 2020.
