The recognition of Novozymes’ environmental and social responsibility performance was the result of Storebrand’s analysis of 66 companies in the chemicals industry. Novozymes is ranked in the top 30 percent of Storebrand’s environmental and social performance analysis. Through this ranking we have earned Best in Class status and qualify for investment in Storebrand’s Social Responsibility Investment mandates.
Novozymes’ management incentive programme is best practice
According to Storebrand, Novozymes demonstrates best practice by basing our management incentive programme on achievements of social and environmental targets in addition to the financial targets. When presenting Novozymes with the Best in Class certificate, Managing Director Hans Aasnæs, Storebrand Investments said:
“It is a sign of strength that corporate managers are evaluated and compensated on the basis of their environmental and social responsibility efforts.”
Although the Best in Class certificate was granted for our performance in the chemicals industry, Hans Aasnæs also recognised Novozymes as a world leader outside the borders of the chemical industry in his speech, where he also emphasised our systematic triple bottom line reporting.
Michael Hougård Pedersen, Novozymes Sustainability Development Centre, received the Best in Class certificate on behalf of Novozymes at a conference on micro-financing in Oslo on 8 March 2007 arranged by Storebrand. Main speaker at the conference was Asad Mahmood, Managing Director, Global Social Investment Funds, Deutsche Bank, which is one of the leading financial institutions within micro-financing.
