During storage enzymes can lose activity over time when exposed to tough conditions.

In liquid detergents enzymes are stable in the right mix of pH, water content, polyol content and protease inhibition. When exposed to high temperatures or if your formulation needs go beyond ideal conditions for the enzymes, enzyme activity could drop over time.

Benefits

Pectate lyases target the stubborn brown stains left behind by the pectin used to give jams their jelly-like consistency and to thicken fruit-dairy drinks. Pectin is also found naturally in the cell walls of fruit and vegetables. Pectate lyases attack stains containing pectin by cutting pectin molecules into tiny pieces that can be removed with the wash water. That makes pectate lyases a must for laundry detergent brands aiming to keep pace with the global trend for diets that are high in fruit and vegetables. XPect® 1000 T is a pectate lyase that delivers high performance on pectin stains, even in cold washes.

Details

This product contains enzymes. While enzymes are safe to use in consumer applications, they need correct handling in working environments to ensure workers’ safety.

Indeed, repeated inhalation of enzyme dust or aerosols resulting from improper handling may induce sensitization and may cause allergic type 1 reactions in sensitized individuals.

Most enzymes hold their stability best within a certain pH range. If the pH values of a detergent formulation are high, enzymes in the formulation can become less effective over time. That’s why we developed this product to be very stable even when exposed to high pH values. The result is consistently high performance on protein stain removal.

Stable in high pH formulations

Enzymes are proteins and proteases break down proteins in a reaction that needs water. That means that in storage, proteases in liquid laundry detergents can break down other enzymes that have been added to the detergent. The result is reduced performance. This product’s proprietary protease inhibitor technology prevents this breakdown, so all the enzymes in your detergents can perform fully in the wash.

Stability for multi-enzyme detergents

Boron is a mineral traditionally added to liquid detergents to secure enzyme stability. Exposure to higher levels may pose a health risk and many regulatory authorities set legal limits to boron levels in workplace air. This product technology ensures stability without boron in liquid formulations, allowing you to observe these limits and create a safer workplace.

Built-in boron-free stabilizer

Most laundry detergents and softeners contain chelators to soften water and help with stain removal. Unfortunately, strong chelators can also remove the calcium ions that are crucial to an enzyme’s structural stability. This product has been developed for compatibility with strong chelators.

Stable in presence of strong chelators

Some hand dishwash formulations contain a lot of water and this can reduce the stability of certain enzymes. As enzymes lose their stability, they become less effective. This product has been developed for stability and consistent performance in formulations with high water content.
