This Privacy Notice applies to the personal data of individuals applying for a job in Novozymes. It also applies to the personal data of individuals applying for admission in other Novozymes programs, to the extent reference to this policy is made.
Novozymes (“Novozymes, “we”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of any information we receive from you during a recruitment process.
The specific Novozymes entity with which you file your job application, is responsible for the processing of your personal data.

Novozymes A/S in Denmark is responsible for the administration of Novozymes’ global recruitment system.
Below, please find more information about how we process your personal data when you give your consent. You can also read more about your rights under applicable data protection laws. Note that this may vary, depending on the region/country in which you apply for a job.
We ask you to read this privacy notice. It is voluntary to whether you wish to consent to our processing of your personal data. However, if you don’t, we cannot process your job application.
When you file your job application with Novozymes, we will process personal information about you to administer and process your application and to evaluate whether you are a good match.
Your personal information
Novozymes may process the following information about you:
- Information about your identity.
- Contact data, like private address, phone number and e-mail
- Other personal information of relevance for statistics and similar, e.g. gender and nationality.
- Personal information provided in the application and pertaining documentation
- CV or resume, including competencies, qualifications, work experience, and educational history
- Personality test. For some positions, Novozymes requests that candidates complete a personality test to improve the basis for evaluating the potential match between the candidate and the job opening.
- Background check information, if relevant for job you are applying for. See more below under *Background check”
- Specific personal information required by law in specific countries, e.g. under anti-discrimination legislation
- Driving license or other licenses/certifications where required to fulfil employment duties
Please do not include information about race or ethnic origin, religious, philosophical or political beliefs, sexual orientation or union memberships in your application and pertaining documentation, and please do not include your civil registration number (e.g. “CPR-nummer”).
For specific trusted job roles, Novozymes performs a background check in connection with your employment. The background check covers inter alia identity, references, CV, academic and professional qualifications and criminal records. You will be asked for a specific consent before the background check is initiated.
Security and confidentiality
Your information will be treated confidentially and are stored in secure IT systems. The personal information about you in the recruitment system is held on an externally hosted database in EU.
We recommend that you choose a secure password to protect your data.
Transfer of data to third parties
To the extent relevant for the processing of your application and potentially your recruitment, your information may be used, collected, stored and accessed outside the country of your residence, by employees in the hiring company, in Novozymes A/S, Denmark or its affiliates regionally responsible for or involved in the hiring process, or in Novozymes affiliate in India, supporting the handling of applications.
Further, your personal information may be transferred to third parties, e.g. recruitment agencies and IT system suppliers, e.g. IBM, acting as data processors in connection with Novozymes recruitment processes. All transfers are subject to relevant agreements ensuring appropriate protection of your data privacy rights.
You can always log into your account and see what information is registered about you in our recruitment system.
At any time, you may correct and update your candidate profile.
At any time, you may choose to withdraw your application for a specific job opening. You can do this electronically until the interview stage in the recruitment process. After the interview stage, please be referred to the recruiter.
You are entitled to request access to the personal information we hold about you and request that we delete it. Please specify your request by sending an email request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Retention of your personal data
Your personal data will be stored for a period of time after finalization of the recruitment process for the purpose of 1) matching you to other job openings if relevant and 2) being able to document a good and compliant recruitment process. The period of time varies, depending on the country/region in which you have applied for a job.
If you are hired, your job application and relevant documentation will be stored in accordance with Novozymes’ rules on retention of personnel files.
Specifically relating to recruitments in Denmark
Your personal information will be stored for 6 months. You can obviously request us to delete your information at an earlier point in time.
Specifically relating to recruitments in USA
Your personal information will be stored for 3 years. The longer retention is in order to comply with US laws and regulations, e.g. EEOC compliance and government grant submissions.
Specifically relating to recruitments in other countries
Your personal information will be stored for 1 year, unless local requirements dictate otherwise. For further information, please contact us (see below). You can obviously request us to delete your information at an earlier point in time.
